Dr. Nesreen Hassan, ND story

For years, I dedicated my life to medicine, working as a faculty member at the School of Medicine in Egypt and pursuing advanced training in Respiratory Medicine at McMaster University. At the time, I was deeply engaged in my clinical postgraduate fellowship and working toward my PhD in Medicine. As a respirologist, I was committed to helping patients breathe easier while contributing to scientific research through writing and publishing.

On the surface, my life seemed perfect. I had a fulfilling career and a beautiful family with two wonderful children. Yet, beneath it all, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. The overreliance on medications in conventional medicine left me unsettled. I felt there had to be a better, more holistic way to heal.

That belief was put to the test one night when I woke up with a debilitating migraine—nausea, vomiting, and unbearable pain. With my husband away on a business trip, I was alone with my young children, struggling through the night with whatever painkillers I could find. It wasn’t an isolated incident. These migraines became a regular, harrowing part of my life, escalating from monthly to weekly, and eventually nearly every day.

The pain seeped into every corner of my life. I couldn’t enjoy time with my family, and even professional gatherings became unbearable. At a Ramadan Iftar, I had to excuse myself to lie down, my purse always stocked with medication. Conventional medicine offered little solace, and I knew I had to find another way.

Determined, I turned to natural medicine and sought the help of a naturopathic doctor. Following a personalized program of dietary and lifestyle changes, professional-grade supplements, and homeopathic medicines, I found not just relief but transformation. The migraines disappeared, and with them, my exhaustion and frustration.

That journey changed my life. I made the bold decision to transition from conventional medicine to naturopathic medicine, driven by a desire to offer patients the comprehensive, natural care that had saved me. Today, I am healthier, more energized, and free from the constant shadow of pain.

If you’ve ever felt trapped by persistent pain or a lack of energy, know that there’s a way forward. My story is proof that transformation is possible. Let me show you how to rewrite your own.
